Band information

Beyond Terror Beyond Grace was a band originally from the Blue Mountains west of Sydney. The band formed in August 2004 playing grind and hardcore covers and then progressed to originals inspired by the likes of Napalm Death and Discharge. After Ben "Terror" Schueler briefly left the band in early 2005, BTBG recorded a four track demo and played live for the first time in June 2005. The demo was then remastered and re-issued as an EP by Grindhead Records. In early 2006 Beyond Terror Beyond Grace supported Behemoth and appeared at Metalstock before supporting Skinless in late 2006.

During 2007 the band recorded its debut album that was released late in the year and supported The Black Dahlia Murder and Cephalic Carnage. After playing Metalstock with Kataklysm, in late August 2008 Beyond Terror Beyond Grace played shows in New Zealand. In October they supported Carcass and Pig Destroyer as well as opening for The Red Shore and Grave. In early 2009, BTBG then began recording their second album.

Our Ashes Build Mountains featured guest appearances by members of Psycroptic, Ruins, The Amenta and Gallows for Grace and was released in 2010 after Bart Ware and Schueler had acrimoniously left, claiming the band was finished. BTBG continued by adding Blake Simpson from DeathFuckingCunt on vocals and guitarist Scott Heldorf.

After touring through Europe, the UK and the US in late 2011, Beyond Terror Beyond Grace completed a third album, dropping all vestiges of grindcore in favour of an ambient black metal and post-rock outlook. Nexus and Wardaemonic drummer Dan Grainger joined the band in 2012 following the departure of Steve Smith. Beyond Terror Beyond Grace played Bastardfest in November without Alex Nicholson and announced at the end of their set that the band had ended.
