Adelaide's Darklord is one of Australia's oldest black metal bands. The band was formed by two former members of the speed metal act [[Outrage]] in 1991 and developed the concept of corpse-painted faces apparently totally independently of the Norwegian black metal scene. Their 1993 release "...by the Force of Sacred Magic Rites" brandishes a cold malevolence, a sheer, raw sound and an eerie atmosphere, receiving minor cult status amongst the underground not only in Australia but overseas.

Darklord released their first full length album in September 2001 after several years of problems, including a dispute with former drummer Manic. The band put together a full line up for live performances in late 2002 that includes Hellaeon and Doomsayer (from [[Beyond Mortal Dreams]]).
A full line up for live performances emerged in late 2002 featuring Hellaeon and Doomsayer from [[Oni]] and since then has played occasionally, including making an appearance at Sydney’s [[Bloodlust]] festival in 2004 and an east coast tour in late 2006.

Band information

Adelaide's Darklord plays some of the most brutal, intense and evil black metal to ever hail from the Southern Continent. The band was formed in the early 90s by two former members of a thrash band called Outrage, and began developing the sound and look independently and apparently in ignorance of the rising Norwegian black metal scene. Their 1993 release "...by the Force of Sacred Magic Rites" brandishes a sheer, raw sound and an eerie atmosphere, winning them minor cult status amongst the underground worldwide.

To better attain their trademark sound, Darklord developed special dual-necked guitar and don nail and spike encrusted armour, creating an unrelenting wall of raw and insanely heavy noise. They often played so loud they were banned from several venues.

The period after “Sacred Magic Rites” was marked by the departure of bassist Destroyer and drummer Manic. The album’s master tapes were also held up in a dispute with the engineer, leading to a long period of absence from the scene. Darklord never split however, and Symphony Satanikka eventually appeared in 2001.

A full line up for live performances emerged in late 2002 featuring Hellaeon and Doomsayer from Oni and since then has played occasionally, including making an appearance at Sydney’s Bloodlust festival in 2004 and an east coast tour in late 2006.
